Embrace the Light by Author Murf Chilson

Embrace the Light

Embrace the Light

Embrace the light is a story set in England in 1930. It has all the ingredients of Cinderella, Snow White and Sleeping Beauty. There is an evil step mother, a prince charming and at one time her only friends are her animals. It is an inspiring tale of never losing hope in the face of darkness and despair.

M & M Affairs

Michael Davenport was a normal person with normal sexual appetites until he met Marla, his first wife. Being young, and recently leaving the nunnery, Marla began to explore. After marrying Michael, her curiosity grew and, with Michael, she set out to satisfy them. After four years, they both went their separate ways.
Millicent Chekov is a doctor from the Ukraine, and she is living in New York. She and Michael meet and they become lovers, however, she is bothered by his possessiveness. Millicent is finally determined to teach him a hard lesson, but this comes only after she learns a couple of hard lessons of her own. They both play a game of revenge with each other, but they soon begin enjoying the different games, so much so that it borders on becoming an obsession.
Hal is an artistic photographer who specialized in nudes and porn, and he is a friend of Michael. There was a time he photographed and became involved with Marla. The question is will he do the same with Millicent. What kind of relationship will he develop with her?
While the scenes are explicit, the novel itself uses salty language to a minimum, using it only as it relates to certain characters and to certain situations.

5 Ways to Break Through a Creative Wall

Creative Writing
Creative blocks are rarely baseless. Often, they stem from real issues that occupy a creator’s mind and drain his or her creative energy. While artists who create for fun can take a break when reality demands it, those in creative fields have no choice but to try to find a crack in the wall and tunnel through.
Like spinning tires in a ditch on a rainy day, getting out of a creative rut can be challenging, but there are ways to reclaim your creativity when life tries to run away with it.

Get green.

Getting in touch with nature is a time-honored way of channeling creativity, and a study by the University of Kansas, as reports the Huffington Post, backs up the nature-creativity connection. Even adding plants to your office space increases the creative flow. If you can’t take the time to recharge in the woods, get to the nursery and invest in a floral office companion.

Enjoy your own work.

It’s not egotistical to appreciate your own work. Those of us who create do so because we like our mediums. We paint, write or sew what we would like to see, read, or wear. When you’re blocked, there is no better work to study than your own. Your old ideas can lead to fresh ideas, and you’ll remind yourself you’ve completed works in the past.

Delve into your craft.

When you can’t pinpoint why you’ve hit the rut in your creativity, it may be because you’ve reached a boundary in your skill set. By working to increase your capabilities throughout your career, you expand your niche and have new directions when you feel one path blocked.
If you’re a writer, check out Writer’s Digest’s articles on writing, or try a few Creative Writing Prompts to help get your juices flowing. If you’re a freelance photographer, enhance your photography by studying the photography tips at iStockPhoto.com. If you’re a Web designer, try a different programming language.
No matter what field you’re in, you should be able to find some free tutorials online. Study up to improve the skills you have or add to them.

Free your mind.

It sounds counterproductive, but when you focus too hard on a problem, you may block yourself. Stress is an enemy of creativity. When you feel blocked, the worst thing you can do is stew on it, worry about what it means for your project, and how your inability to get your work done will impact your financial future.
Get up and do other things. Go for a bike ride, run an errand, or take that shower you’ve been putting off for days because you were in the zone. Let your mind wander. Often, it will come back to your project on its own.

Post a public deadline.

We may create out of love, but when we turn our art into careers, we know deadlines are part of the deal. A deadline gives us a timeframe, which means we have to get through that wall one way or another. It’s like the sports world’s equivalent of “playing through the pain”. It may not be your best work, but some projects just need to get done.
If just thinking about a deadline when you’re blocked makes you freeze up even more, consider this: according to the Harvard Business Review, there is good and bad pressure when it comes to creativity. Good pressure is created by an optimally challenging project – a project that is difficult, but that you have the skills to complete. If you work in a creative field, you have the skills to get through your block and get your project done on time. A deadline simply forces you to put them to use in a timely manner.

Promoting Self-published Books Through Pinterest

Be updated. There’s nothing worse than being in a crowd only to find out that you don’t belong, that you feel out-of-place. A bugging need to fit in always stands in the way. Same holds true for book marketing. You have to have a nose for what’s new and the eyes for what’s in.

One of the social media sites that have been making a buzz online is Pinterest. Since its launching three years ago, Pinterest has exploded with popularity. This site allows you to upload high-quality, design-focused pins. It’s time family relationships are taught to children in a fun and easy-to-read manner. And that’s what this book is about.

5 Creative Writing Methods For Your Book Writing Project

Writing a book is overwhelming, that’s a fact. If you are already struggling in writing your essay paper for school, just imagine how tough and stressful it is to write a novel. Compared to essay, writing a novel is a more laborious task. But if you approach this project in a manageable and creative way, you will enjoy your book writing journey.

As you start working on your book, you’ll surely encounter writing challenges along the way. This is undoubtedly a tedious undertaking but writing a good novel is also a fun adventure. If you are passionate in writing and you want your work to be read by everyone, then go for it. Do not stress yourself and think that you cannot do it. Remember, you are a writer and writing a good novel is one of the biggest accomplishments in a writer’s life.

For you to successfully write your novel, here are some creative writing methods that will help you start your project:

1. Baby-Steps Method
This method will teach you how you should perceive an overwhelming task which is writing a novel. If you set yourself to finish a book within a year then this is a good approach for your writing. Have a writing schedule, for example take four weeks in establishing your first draft. Then, for the next couple of weeks, you do the other part of the writing process until you reach your goal.
Breaking down the big picture into smaller one will make you an efficient writer. Don’t hurry yourself and force to write all the chapters in your book in one-sitting. Never mind the time pressure. Take every little step at a time. It only takes baby steps to create a well-written book.

2. The Pomodoro Technique
This technique can help you finish your draft within a specific time. For writers, deadline is very important in doing a project. If you want to finish on time, you must avoid all kinds of distraction and beat procrastination. It is not easy to become a productive writer but with pomodoro technique you’ll be surprised how the flow of your writing comes out naturally.

This method will make your book writing delightfully easy. How? Use a timer to keep track your writing. It will set your boundaries in doing things within a day. Pomodoro technique will teach you to manage your time and ideas efficiently. With too many ideas constantly clanging in your head, it’s hard to focus in one idea to another. You need to fix your concentration and do what you have to do within the given time. Having a timer during your working hours will help you organize your thoughts in writing your novel.

3. Snowflake Method
The snowflake method is arguably the most popular method in creating a plot according to some writers. How does this method works? Well, it starts from having a simple deep theme in your writing. Over time, your ideas will transform into a more complex structure. After spending time refining your character profiles and outline well, you became familiar in every detail of your story.

As you do the ten steps of snowflake method, you’re establishing the skeleton of your book and you slowly fleshing it out. Many novelists and book authors used this method in designing their book and they find it useful in their work because they can start writing with almost nothing and can grow their plot naturally.

4. Intuitive Writing Method
To do this method, you just need to sit down and get on with your writing. Start writing without thinking of what you’re going to write. Let your ideas and thoughts inside your head pour through. Do not think about the plot structure, your characters, setting, etc. This is one way of practicing free write or writing experimentation.

This works for some writers because there is no right and wrong in doing this technique. If you believe that planning too much for your novel gets you stuck, you should follow this method. Intuitive Writing method will help you find your unique voice and launch the writing process.

5. Somewhere-in-Between Writing Method
According to some studies, most novelists and book authors fall in this writing approach. Writers used this method if they can already picture out half of the scenes in their story. If you already have an idea about the beginning or ending of your story, you can apply this in your writing.

Somewhere-in-between writing method is like filling up some blank pages of your story to complete the writing process. This method promotes creative freedom because you have the chance to change some of your ideas and bring in new characters as you go through your novel writing.

You can pick one or more of these writing methods for your book project. Find the writing technique that works best for you and get started with your book writing journey.

Vernal Lind and His Books

BEYOND THOSE HILLS
http://www.bookwhirl.com/blog/vernal-lind-books
Set in 1937 Minnesota, this first book of the series opens with Matthew Anderson feeling dismayed and beaten when he awoke with his older brother’s words announcing that the family farm is his.

Matthew’s anger almost cost him his life, so he realizes he must forgive his brother. He realizes that forgiveness would lead him to a new life. He bought a bigger and better farm where he moves his family. However, Matthew’s problems have just begun when he learns that his older brother, P.J., has criminal connections. And Matthew’s family is drawn into the problem.

Through their lives in the farm, readers will experience how life used to be back then, without modern amenities and facilities, and how modern conveniences arrived gradually into their rural life. As the first book draws to an end, Matthew welcomes his new baby to the world as his four older children become teenagers. And he continues to look Beyond Those Hills with new hope.

BEYOND THE STORM

P.J. continues to cause problems as he rents out the family farm. Plus, the looming storm of World War II becomes a reality when Joe, Matthew’s friend and hired man, enters the army.
The famous Armistice Day storm almost brings disaster to Matthew and Ellen, his wife. After they return from visiting P.J. in the hospital, they must take refuge from the storm in a school house. The next day, P.J. dies, feeling intense guilt for the wrongs he has done.

At home, Matthew and Ellen’s children develop each of their own story and personality. James dreams of being a writer and observes the drama around him. Johnie loves machines and the outdoors and wants to farm and work with machinery. Margaret is the model young woman, especially in the eyes of her father. Carol doesn’t live up to her sister and something of a rebel.

A March snow storm, as bad as the earlier storm, brings the whole family face to face with life-and-death situations. Law enforcement catches up with P.J.’s son Larry, who is sent to prison. Matthew’s sister, Victoria, hires lawyers and manages to get most of the family farm land back to the family.

BEYOND THE DARKNESS

The dark destruction of WWII and other dark force threaten the Anderson’s family and way of life. Matthew’s wife and mother meet every week to pray for the boys in the service. At times, the family does not know whether Johnie or the others are dead or alive. It’s the faith of the Anderson family that takes them beyond the darkness.

Matthew and Ellen face challenges as each of the older children grows up. After being in the service, James returns home to leave for college to fulfill his dream of being a teacher and writer. Johnie, who always thought he would take over the farm, returns first to a veteran’s hospital and recovers enough to return home. He experiences a call to become a pastor. Margaret marries her first love, Joe, and with the help of Aunt Victoria, they take over the original family farm. Carol becomes pregnant and runs off with the banker’s son; but later, her husband ends up frozen to death. Michael, the youngest child, remains at home and begins grade school.

BEYOND THIS HOME

Matthew, Ellen and their family enters the turbulent 1960s. The four children have grown up and moved away. At home, Michael goes through difficulties of growing up, leaves home and rejects many of the family values. Matthew needs to slow down and retire but he hates the idea of leaving his beloved farm.

Each child is living his or her own life. James, who has a wife and family, is a professor at a state college but has not fulfilled his dream of becoming a writer. Johnie is a popular and successful minister, but he faces tragedy when his wife dies of cancer and leaves him with three young children. Margaret and Joe are on the original home farm, with their six children. Carol has come through a divorce with her second husband and has married for the third time with a wealthy businessman. After being away, Michael sees the error of his ways and returns home with a beautiful young school teacher.

An important section in this novel is the Kennedy Assassination and its effects on each member of the Anderson’s family.
